The Short One

It’s once again one of those Wednesday where the TMX Track List is supposed to be updated, but unfortunately I’m running short of time. So instead, today you get a few short messages and a small little challenge to keep your mind busy ๐Ÿ˜‰

First off, the track list is taking a break and the next edition won’t appear until in two weeks. What’s taking my time is not TM relevant, and as we all know some things goes before TM…ย But only a few, very rare things ๐Ÿ˜›

Second, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you about the on-going Question Quest. This time there are some quite hard questions, and even if you don’t know even half of them, don’t hesitate to make a few qualified guesses ๐Ÿ˜‰ And if you have the time and are not too lazy, all answers can be found simply be checking them in-game or elsewhere.

The deadline is today, so hurry up! Results are posted tomorrow. Click here to go to the Question Quest post ๐Ÿ˜‰

Code Breaker

Third, let’s have another little challenge. This one is nothing big, and you must answer it by commenting this post. No sign-ups, no need to e-mail the answers, but also no prizes. Just something to keep you busy now that the regular track list is not posted.

The purpose of this challenge, which we can call Code Breaker, is simply to break the below code. It’s a simple TM related phrase, but I won’t revealย how it’s composedย at this time ๐Ÿ˜‰ You’ll gradually be given hints though,ย through the below comments until someone figures it out. So here’s the code:

55111002883377700222010002-99220105566444-010900-002-1311116600255-13100277766!

First hint: Diversity

I wish you goo luck, and sorry for not giving you the track list as planned.

  1. T_Z_ says:

    Are all that numbers a word? I mean, the groups you wrote, separated by an – , are each a word? If it is, I’m already pwned ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Jozii says:

    LoL, just realized I wrote “Tracks” as the first hint. I have no idea why I did that xD It’s relevant in a way, but it doesn’t really lead you in the right direction. I changed it to “Diversity” instead ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I won’t give anything away about the structure, T_Z_, but I will give you a nother hint by saying:

    “Not everyone agrees”

  3. TimeBreaker says:

    lol im not the codebreaker xD , and this i crazy difficult :O
    but i will try ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. insane says:

    damn, thats really though…
    just give another hint, i have no clue how to solve this right now

  5. Alcator says:

    BTW, Jozii, perhaps you should be aware that those who have Firefox don’t see the whole code unless they decrease the font size;

    55111002883377700222010002-
    99220105566444-
    010900-
    002-
    1311116600255-
    13100277766!

    Without decreasing font size, I saw (as the right-most digits) the two zeroes before 2 (002), nothing more.

  6. insane says:

    ahh, then everything is easy of course ๐Ÿ˜›
    nah, jsut didnt realize there was more than that 00 at the end, thx alcator ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. TimeBreaker says:

    lol, now it all makes sense ๐Ÿ˜€
    stupid firefox ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  8. T_Z_ says:

    lol,thx Alcator but I still have no idea how to solve this, gonna try again later ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. alcator says:

    when all else fails, use google.

  10. Jozii says:

    Oh, I didn’t know there was a problem :S

    Anyway, a new hint would probably be in order ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is something some have already thought of, so this is a confirmation to those people, while maybe it’s something new to some:

    “The ‘-‘ separates words.”

    To make it even easier, here’s another one:

    “The fourt word is only one letter”.

    Maybe that helped a bit? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Jozii says:

    *fourth, not fourt :$

  12. insane says:

    55 111 a 88 33 777 a 22 ba – 99 22 b 55 66 444 – be – a -131 111 66 a 55 -131 a 777 66!

    dunno, jsut taking a stab, but probably the single letters are composed of 2 or 3 number columns…
    this way i think above splitted up code might be the solution, you just need to replace each of the columns with one letter…
    to be serious i dont have a clue, though maybe its the right direction at least

  13. T_Z_ says:

    O, nice hint Jozii, i think it’s eaier now ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. memy says:

    Hmm – i didnt find out how the code is working but i know the result…
    The last hint made it easy somehow.

  15. alcator says:

    TRACKMANIA UNITED IS A GREAT GAME!

  16. insane says:

    crap, then my try was correct, i jsut thought “be” is the only word with two letters, forgot about “is” ๐Ÿ˜›
    55 = T
    111 = R
    66 = E
    and so one…

  17. memy says:

    ok – but the game is code breaker
    How does it work?

  18. alcator says:

    memy: Forget about it – you’re supposed to post your tip as comment here. But I posted it first.

  19. memy says:

    forgot already…
    just would like to know the code…

  20. TimeBreaker says:

    yeah tell us the code :O

  21. Jozii says:

    Alcator got it right, but I have no clue how he did it ๐Ÿ˜› Perhaps that last clue made it too easy…

    Anyway, well done all, and congratulations to Alcator ๐Ÿ˜€

  22. Jozii says:

    Btw, here’s how it was composed:

    The code was “TrackMania is a great game”, and each letter has it’s own unique number (consisting of one, two or three numbers). Like, as the fourth word was only one letter, and it was “A”, 002 = A.

    Then it’s a good idea to check for other places where “002” is located, and it’s quite likely that those places also equals “A”.

    Example:

    T = 55
    R = 111
    A = 002
    C = 88
    K = 33
    M = 777
    A = 002
    N = 22
    I = 010
    A = 002

    Get it now? ๐Ÿ˜›

  23. alcator says:

    Jozii wrote: “The code was โ€œTrackMania is a great gameโ€, and …”

    – in fact, it was “Trackmania UNITED is a great game”

  24. memy says:

    I was looking for some mathematic rule or somthing why a certain letter got that number… ๐Ÿ™‚ just freestyle?

  25. Jozii says:

    LoL, sorry Alcator, I meant United ๐Ÿ˜›

    And yes, it was basically just freestyle. It was more like a word game where you guess and test various letter combinations until something fits and you figure out the number combinations that way, rather than a game of logics or mathematics.

  26. T_Z_ says:

    Too hard for my small brain…
    gg everyone ๐Ÿ˜›

  27. TimeBreaker says:

    yeah i was also thinking one step too far, i also had the idea of finding out the letters by mathmatic calculating ๐Ÿ˜›
