First Impression

Based on 1)the fact that this is Pjotr’s first track, at least for United, 2)the fact the track has no awards whatsoever at TMX, and 3) the total absence of imagination when coming up with a name for the track (perhaps taking a look at the naming guide might help), my expectations for this track are extremely low.

On the first run, however, the track was actually quite good. Really good, in fact. This should be interesting…

Track design

The design of the track is, despite the first impression of the track, very fun and interesting. The track has a good feeling throughout the entire track with some smooths jumps and transitions, great airport- and platform racing, technical turns, high speed, and some really cool longer jumps. In fact, the design is everything I first believed it not to be!

Also, the track is quite challenging for several reasons. Here are the good ones:

  • The first long straight road is actually quite challenging, even though it doesn’t sound like it. It’s a narrow piece of road at high speed!
  • The larger jumps are all quite challenging, both as you need high speed and as it can be tricky to land correctly.
  • The finish is tricky to hit, and it’s quite easy to fly too low or too much to the side. Quite interesting design there, though.

On the bad side there’s only one, but a major one, point: The signs! It took me countless attempts to complete the track as you often don’t know where to go, or you don’t know what to aim for while taking off at a jump. For example, after the first airport you either jump back to start or crash in the water. You are actually supposed to hit the water, but you must go in the right direction so you bounce back up on a platform (hint: aim for the rocket in the distance).

Overall, the design is fast, smooth and interesting, although you probably will get lost once or twice, which is of course not a good thing.

Rating: 8.0

The scenery is not over-used yet not lacking. In fact the scenery is quite interesting, and there’s always something nice to look at. Good scenery here which will keep you interested!

Rating: 8.5

The intro is quite short and doesn’t really give a good picture of the track. A bit poor, but at least there’s something, and the short section that is there isn’t too bad (although more of the same kind should have been added).

In-game there are cam changes on two wallrides, and while the second one is just as it should be, the first one is a bit annoying; it ends too late, resulting in the driver having to pass a perfectly normal turn with the camera in first person view.

The outro looks ok to begin with, becomes awezome in the first jump, and is then very boring for the second half of the track. Why? Because it uses the same angle for the rest of the track (which is an angle similar to the one you have when you drive, except it’s placed higher above the vehicle)!

Rating: 7.0

The track as such doesn’t really bring that much originality, although some of the longer jumps are quite interesting, and while the start has been seen before it’s also very fun.

Rating: 4.0

Fun Factor

I had a lot of fun on this one! Getting lost and trying to find the way is actually quite fun. And then you’ll have a lot of fun trying to get a decent time. Then you can have additional fun exploring around a little. I spent about 10 minutes trying to hit one of those hooks hanging in the roof inside the hangars (I gave up, btw), then I spent an additional 15 minutes trying to hit the tiny boats in the water.

Okay, maybe that was just a sign of boredom, but my point is that this track will bring you some entertainment both on trying to actually complete it, the attempting to finetune your time, then you can always drive a few extra rounds just for fun.

Rating: 8.5

Despite the terrible thoughts about the track before starting to actually drive it this is in fact a great track with a great design. It’s interesting, fun, and although it doesn’t bring anything new as such it has a touch of innovations. Jumps are smooth and sensational, and the platform- and airport sections bring a lot of speed. Unfortunately the signs are poorly placed and it often gets hard to navigate.

MT work seemed only half-finished, although still quite decent. The scenery is good and interesting to look at, yet not distracting. Overall a very fun track to drive which will keep you entertained for quite some time!

TMX members: Let’s see some awards for this one!

Final Rating: 8.0 (very good)

Does this track deserve awards at TMX, or is it just rubbish? Why hasn’t it been awarded yet? Speak your mind by commenting this post!
