Congratulate to the winners and give many thanks to the judges! Hopefully there will be a new event in the future, but it won’t be another XSTC I’m afraid…
Today I’ve been working on the XSTC, getting all the judges going and adding the final details. The aim is to have results up by Sunday.
Due to this I don’t have much time posting anything particular today…
Oh, and tomorrow I’ll be away for most of the day, so probably there won’t be any meaningful post then either (but you never know), just so that you are aware of the possibility
To fill the time and space, feel free to start a discussion about, well, anything basically, in the comments for this post ![]()
OK, they’re finally here
Overall Winner: FollowTheSun, by -Homie-
The top five of each group earn 250 coppers, the three winner of each group earn an additional 750 coppers (1000 total) and the overall winner (Homie) earns 2000 coppers on top of that (3000 total).
Don’t forget that the second round is still running, with one week left for submissions. ![]()
If you’ve read the comments of the previous post entitled “Reviews” you know that Alcator suggested a contest to get more reviews for the blog in the near future. He also introduced an idea of people making short, 15 second long tech-track for this purpose.
I decided to use this idea and a contest has already been created for this
While I did decide to remove the tech-track parts and give people more freedom to be creative the idea of extremely short tracks is still valid.
To get to the case, here are the main details:
This may all sound very simple, and basically it is
The main twist is the fact that each track may be no longer than 15 seconds long, and that, during the judging process, two to five tracks are to be reviewed here at the blog. The highest rated track is then the winner of the contest.
Prizes: Up to 5750 coppers split between the top tracks, along with the free exposure to the tracks being reviewed.
Now, as track building contests are usually best advertised at TMX I’ve already created a forum topic there, which will be the main asset of this contest. In other words, that thread is where you can get all the details of the contest as well as being the place where you submit tracks.
So if all this sounds interesting, go check out the thread at TMX and start building some short masterpieces
Good luck and have fun!
The racing contest at the forum has come to an end. It was a hard battle to achieve the best time, but in the end we have a winner:
JumperJack (with a time of 1:03.3
JumperJack now has to prove this is his actual time by sending the replay to Jozii@pp.inet.fi. Upon doing so, the 2000 prize coppers will be sent
This contest idea seemed well liked, so expect to see more of it, perhaps as a weekly event, in the near future. Just keep an eye out at the forum ![]()
Yet again I bring you new updates - this time it’s our forum that has received a make-over! The reason for this update is, partly, some of the information received from the latest TMU Blog Survey.
I’m sure you’ve already spotted the forum text box to the right, and that basically sumarizes what’s new. But, once again, here’s a list:
You remember the TMU Writing Contest, right? Sure you do! The results are now here, and as stated in the original rules it’s the top 5 that get the most attention! 10,000 coppers are dealt to these people, for their great in-sight view of TrackMania combined with their writing skills. Read on for the actual results
A while ago a Five Into One contest was started here at the blog. Submissions were sent in, but due to the after-work (MT, screenshot, etc.), the actual track hasn’t been completed until now. Additionally, the results have been displayed at the TMU Blog Forum earlier, but nothing has been said here until now (I wanted to wait until the track was ready for release).
In case you’ve missed it or forgotten, this contest was a sort of community project. The difference from a normal community track was that everyone built at the same time, on a limited area. No one knew whether their part would be placed first, last or in the middle of the track.
Despite plenty of time in the spotlight (even outside the TMU Blog), and many people having read or at least seen the rules, the TMU Writing Contest has not generated too big a response. Let me remind you that whatever is produced as a result of this contest will be used as material here at the blog later this month, so your contribution is not only appreciated but even needed!
