The racing contest at the forum has come to an end. It was a hard battle to achieve the best time, but in the end we have a winner:
JumperJack (with a time of 1:03.38)
JumperJack now has to prove this is his actual time by sending the replay to Jozii@pp.inet.fi. Upon doing so, the 2000 prize coppers will be sent
This contest idea seemed well liked, so expect to see more of it, perhaps as a weekly event, in the near future. Just keep an eye out at the forum

Last week (read here), an article taught you how to use vertical position of the car to provide navigational tips.
This time, I’ll conclude the series with an article about bi-directional areas of the track – i.e., about places where cars are going in either direction and you need to provide different tips for each direction.

First off, another announcement: my trip to Sweden was cancelled due to illness (not my illness, but another person). Tough luck, both for that other person and myself. Thus, you’re stuck with me for the weekend
(Djoszee, that still doesn’t mean I don’t want thos articles!)
Second, today I learned why I play TrackMania. I bought World in Conflict a few days ago and today I tried it in mutiplayer mode for the first time today. Map: Dome. After about five minutes of play I made the first contact with a fellow member through the chat system:
“Jozii, get your ass away from that building!”
The problem: I had placed my artillery behind the dome, targeting units on the other side. The result: the dome eventually fell apart (and the targeted units were laughing at me instead of fearing me). Oops!
At least in TrackMania, if I screw up, I just do a CP respawn and blame it on server lag. That way no one usually notices the mistake

It feels like since TMX went offline I’ve only posted announcements
And today won’t be any different. My apologies for this, but I promise to straighten up – on Monday!
Unfortunately (well, not for me, but for the rest of you
) I’ll go to Stockholm tomorrow and won’t return until Sunday evening. This means there might be a few days with no posting, all depending on these two factors:
- If I will have the time and access to a computer,
- If Alcator (who is still in the progress of finishing his next article), Djoszee and DABH (anyone seen him lately, by the way? He hasn’t returned my messages for some time now) will write any articles.
You will get an article on Saturday (already written and all), so there will only be two “empty” days max. What happens with Friday and Sundey remains to be seen, but at least now you’ve been warned.
And as I always say to cover up otherwise bad news: Visit the forum instead

In the Track Attack post a little contest was started encouraging people to collect all of their old TMX tracks. The results are now here, and the winner is:
Micster! (With 273 tracks)
The aim of this contest was to provide tracks to people even though TMX is down. Micster’s track pack has been uploaded and can now be downloaded here.
As promised, Micster also wins 2500 coppers, and everyone else who participated win 500 coppers each.
Enjoy the tracks and congratulations to Micster for being a frequent track downloader :D

Forum
Yet again I bring you new updates - this time it’s our forum that has received a make-over! The reason for this update is, partly, some of the information received from the latest TMU Blog Survey.
I’m sure you’ve already spotted the forum text box to the right, and that basically sumarizes what’s new. But, once again, here’s a list:

It’s like if every recent post contains the phrase “now that TMX is down”, so I’ll do my best not to include it today
(Shoot, already too late!)
At the BCS website, a new cool feature has been added called the BCS Track Exchange Program! I’m quite sure you already know what this is about
The website now has a section where you can upload/download tracks. As of now, there aren’t that many tracks available, but as soon as you start uploading your own tracks, I’m sure this could turn into something good. We all miss TMX, and while I have no doubt we’ll all be back at TMX in the near future, BCS may have a good secondary solution here.
The BCS Track Exchange features a page with three categories – BCS Tracks, Nations Tracks and United Tracks. Additionally, these pages have subcategories. For United, these are all the environments plus PF as well as Stunt. Use these to upload your tracks to the site. From here, you can also download other people’s tracks of the type you’re interested in.
Doing this requires you to log in to BCS, so if you don’t have an account yet, go register now!
In short, now that TMX is down the BCS Track Exchange Program might be a good substitute
Make good use of it!

Today we’re going on a “theme” once again: The sun! All of the following screenshots make use of a sun (or moon in the case of TimeBreaker’s first screenshot) in the background to create nice light effects.

I just love the yellow shine on the left side! Excellent use of the sun for a nice effect
