I have a few things to say before we move on to the actual screenshots:
- First: My apologies for not posting anything yesterday. Time ran away, but I hope to make up for this by an extra post or two during the weekend
- Second: Thanks for the many new screenshots since last week - this allows the SotW to run for at least a few more months. But of course, even more screenshots are always welcome
- Third: Just a little note: It would be good if you could also give the name of your screenshots a little more thought. This is not required, but if you actually give your screenshots real names (rather than “Picture 02″) it looks better to include the name of the screenshot when it’s posted here at the blog.
- Fourth: We now introduce a nice cool feature for the Screenshot of the Week contests: A slideshow! I hope this will be a popular feature
Please give some feedback by commenting this post.
And now to the actual screenshots…
Screenshot Collection
Note: The winning screenshot is included in this slideshow!
Tonic_91 wins 50 coppers for his great screenshot!
If you have a screenshot or two, send them to Jozii@pp.inet.fi. All screenshots will get published in the blog, and every week one screenshot is selected as Screenshot of the Week.

I didn’t want to include this in the original post, but here are some questions I’d like you to answer:
1. What do you think of this new feature?
2. Do you prefer the old layout of the SotW posts or this new one better (the answer might be obvious, but think about it: with the old style, pictures were for example clickable for enlargement - you could view them in their original size, which is not possible here - and I’m sure there are other downs with the slideshow feature)?
3. Should the winner of the SotW be included in the slideshow, or should it as before be posted further down under a separate headline (so it’s more clear who the winner is)?

1. Beautiful! It looks very nice.
2. Well … I liked the old system, because you had all screenshots at one glance, and you could enlarge them (only up to 750xsth, though). The slideshow looks very beautiful, and you can “enjoy” each screenshot, but you cannot stop and look closer or enlarge.
I don’t know.
3. Should be included. It becomes increasingly difficult to choose a winner from all these high-quality entries, and the winner is your own personal choice anyway, so I don’t think the winner should be mentioned separately.

The layout is nice, but I would change it a little bit:
) and put the slideshow in there. Why? Because it is less distracting.
- Show only the picture of the winner on the frontpage
- Add a show more link (you finally figured out how to do it
Or, put all the pictures on a show-more link. I still think the winner should be a static piucture of its own.

bah, I forgot to login :s
March 23, 2007 at 11:33 pm
nice!!
a couple of things:
- the winner should be included in the show, but also shown in the post…
- i might want to use some of the screens as a background… and i can’t save the images… or at least, i can’t find where to…
March 23, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Hmm, a lot of good points here. I never thought of the fact that some want’s to use the pictures as background. I never do that myself.
I like your idea, Djoszee, about putting the winner on the front page and the rest in the slideshow at a “click to read the rest of the post”-link (yes, I figured out how to do it
). Also, then there would be one picture to click and use as background, although it still leaves the rest “unclickable”.
I think we can all agree that the slideshow looks good, but it’s less practical. I guess the fate of the slideshow will be in the hands of future comments…
Oh, and to say another positive thing about the slideshow: At the rate I’m using up space by uploading pictures (both for articles and Screenshot of the Week) I will have to pay for more space within about six months (the blog started in November, and I’ve already used up 65%), but with the slideshow pictures are not uploaded to the blog, and space is not used for it. That saves a lot space, and should probably increase the usage of current space with another six months or so.

lol jozii youre serious not putting those great ones as desktopbackground?
well i did all the time
and this time there are very interesting ones, which i really would ove to have as a wallpaper
ok:

wow this slideshow is pretty cool, i first wondered what that is
but it is a cool idea, really like it, but i still prefer the old style
as i said, i really love to collect most screenshots because they look so cool, ad some are really worth of being called a wallpaper
i often change the background of my desktop and i got a big folder big lots of trackmania screenshots
and i need those new ones
about your space, i think this is a solution
just upload the wallpapers you received on ” http://www.imageshack.us ”
and then use the thumbnail link written there.. i think on that way you dont loose much space , you just save the thumbnails, i think
and the uploaded pictures on imageshack do never , or well they last some years there,
so this is a nice solution, i hope because i need those wallpapers^^

Well, if you want Tonic’s he posted his in “TM Wallpapers” in the Offtopic forum
March 24, 2007 at 11:11 am
I currently have one of the winning entries as my wallpaper, and would like to change it for the current winner. So please, provide also static versions of the screens.
March 24, 2007 at 11:53 am
you can upload the screens at http://www.xs.to for example, and post the links to the files in your post. then you won’t need to use the space from the blog…
March 24, 2007 at 11:56 am
The slideshow looks great, but I would rather have the static versions, for the same reason as TimeBreaker

T_Z_, it’s different size there (no widescreen), you can find both sizes from my ManiaLink
March 24, 2007 at 12:08 pm
I know there are other places for uploading, but it becomes more work for me doing it that way. However, to save space, I need to do something
In the future, I’m not going to use both the slideshow version and static versions, so based on your comments I guess we’re back to the old layout
The slideshow was just a one-time event then!
March 24, 2007 at 12:25 pm
What if we would upload our screens to imageshack and send to you as links to there (like I do ;)) Wouldn’t it be less work if you just used them ?
March 24, 2007 at 12:26 pm
I meant any imagehost (like imageshack)
March 24, 2007 at 12:48 pm
at http://www.xs.to you can also copy the links to thumbnails, so i guess that also possible for other images… the sending of the links to you can sound like a good idea…
March 24, 2007 at 12:51 pm
That would be helpful, yes. But a stupid question: How do I post the IMAGES, not just a link?
March 24, 2007 at 1:46 pm
Well, is it possible to post thumbnails, like JumperJack said ?
March 24, 2007 at 2:58 pm
you should use the link, I’m quite sure it will work
March 24, 2007 at 3:31 pm
yeah, there will be a thumnail-link too when you upload your images at http://www.xs.to - just try it then…
March 24, 2007 at 3:47 pm
Will do for next week
March 24, 2007 at 8:32 pm
imageshack.us got lots of different links, just try it once and you will see how easy it is, and yes, maybe we could just send oyu all the time the uploaded thumbnail-links
so if you click on them you enlarge em and the big pic is not eating your space
and , if you dont post the screens of this week as wallpapers (o just try the thumbnail links
) i beg you to send them on my email adress

trackmania backgroudns are the best
March 24, 2007 at 11:00 pm
I’m not going to upload them somewhere or post them here now, but anyone who wants them just e-mail Jozii@pp.inet.fi and ask for them
March 25, 2007 at 1:19 am
oh well some looked better as little images
